Mike Beedell Mike Beedell is a seasoned wilderness leader who has 25 years experience guiding small groups of individuals into places less traveled. As an avid outdoor educator, Mike enjoys sharing his knowledge of the landscape, the history and wildlife behaviour, and imparting his wilderness skills to those who are interested. As an international award-winning photographer, Mike is able to offer guidance in photographic technique, composition and artistic approaches through informal or formal sessions. sail-powered journey to the Northwest Passage in a tiny, two-man, open catamaran (a National Geographic feature and film, May 1989). (link to article) He also retraced the last Inuit migration, a multicultural, 3,000-kilometer dogsled epic across the Canadian Arctic to Greenland (an Equinox feature Nov/Dec 1987 and nomination for a national magazine award). (link to article) His latest expedition was a five month kayaking and hiking project - the first kayak circumnavigation of Bylot Island (18,000 sq.km) in Sirmilik National Park. Bylot Island is a spectacular jewel at the eastern entrance to the Northwest Passage. Mike is the author of the Canadian best seller The Magnetic North and photographer of the Canadian Geographic/Key Porter book, The Northwest Passage. Over the past 25 years, he has been a regular contributor to some of the finest international magazines including features in National Geographic, Geo Germany, Equinox and Canadian Geographic. Mike's love for the wilderness is infectious. Bonnie has been nutritionist & natural foods chef for over 15 years. After obtaining a degree in nutrition from Ryerson University, and completing a dietetic internship at the Toronto Hospital, Bonnie opened a private practice specializing in healthy menu planning and teaching natural foods cooking. Bonnie has over 20 years of canoe trip experience in Temagami, & Algonquin Park along with extensive backcountry hiking through British Columbia and the Yukon national parks.

Combining her knowledge of nutrition and her experience as an avid outdoors person, she has developed the art of preparing healthy flavorful meals in the great beyond. Bonnie is also a seasoned banjo player who enjoys serenading folks with old-time music and sharing campfire folk songs. |
